职业生涯, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) Provision

学生们 are given information, advice and guidance to help them plan their pathways at the end of Key Stage 3 and to make the best choice when it comes to further education at the end of Key stage 4. Our aim is for students to make informed choices in order to plan for, and achieve, their future goals.

St Benedict’s College is committed to providing a programme of 职业生涯 education in Years 7 to 11 and to giving all students access to independent careers information and guidance.
The CEIAG strategy sets out that every secondary school and college should use the following ‘Gatsby Benchmarks’ to develop and improve 职业生涯 provision, (September 2020) 通过:

          • Ensuring a stable careers programme is in place
          • Learning from 职业生涯 and Labour market information
          • Addressing the needs of each student
          • Linking curriculum learning to careers
          • Offering encounters with employers and employees
          • Offering experiences of workplaces
          • Offering encounters with Further Education organisations
          • Providing independent and personal guidance

We measure and assess the impact of our 职业生涯 programme through:

          • Whole college ‘Student Voice’ activities
          • Meetings with the 职业生涯’ Student working party and Student council
          • Student provider feedback forms following CEIAG events
          • Staff and parental feedback

As part of our plan to develop our CEAIG provision we welcome parents/carers who would be prepared to play a part in this initiative 通过 offering support in one or more of the following areas:

          • Taking on a mentor role
          • Offering careers talks/advice to groups of students
          • Taking on the role of interviewer for our Year 10 Mock Interview days

Please contact Trish Axtell, 职业生涯’ Officer, for further information

All students must stay in some form of education or training up to the age of 18.

          Student options are:

          • Full-time education - e.g. at a school or college
          • An apprenticeship or traineeship
          • Part-time education or training - as well as being employed, self-employed or volunteering for 20 hours or more a week

Information about careers and apprenticeships can be obtained from the following website: www.direct.gov.uk . Alternatively, students have access to careers’ resources in the college library.

Our published careers information will be reviewed in 2020
